Kyrgyz mobile providers to reduce tariffs for calls to other mobile networks

Mobile operators of Kyrgyzstan will reduce tariffs for calls to other mobile networks, fulfilling the prescription of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation. The press service of the state agency reported.

In order to assess the state and development of the competitive environment, the Antimonopoly Agency has conducted an analysis of the market of mobile radiotelephone services. The results showed that Alfa Telecom CJSC (MegaCom commercial name), SkyMobile LLC (Beeline) and NUR Telecom (O! commercial name) dominate in the market of mobile radiotelephone services.

It was found out that the cost of outgoing calls directly depends on the tariff for Internet traffic transmission (or interconnect rate), that is, the interconnection rate is basic when calculating the cost of outgoing calls from a network of one mobile operator to the network of another mobile operator.

Thus, mobile providers violate the requirements of the Law on Competition. They were given instructions to eliminate the violations.

Market participants signed interconnection agreements with a reduction in interconnection rates from January 1 by 14 percent of the current rates with a phased decrease by 50 tyiyn every six months.

The reduction in interconnection rates will have a positive effect on the services provided to subscribers and the number of outgoing calls to other mobile networks.
