The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov promised to quit big politics after 2023. He stated this today at a press conference.
Journalists again asked about the case against Omurbek Babanov. Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed that no one would interfere in this case as well as in other cases.
«The case against Omurbek Babanov was opened before me. It will be wrong if I say to close the case. I told the administration about this. No one from above intervenes now. The judiciary should be responsible for its decisions to the people. One cannot say that if the court made the right decision, then Jeenbekov is good. If wrong, then Jeenbekov is bad,» said the president.
He added: each member of the presidential administration knows that he or she cannot interfere. Everyone is engaged in their own business.
«I’ll ask how investigation into Babanov’s case is going. He said he quit politics. I do not consider anyone as my rival. In six years, I want to be an ordinary citizen of the country. After 2023, I don’t want to interfere in politics or run for elections,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov said.
