Two central streets of Bishkek to be freed from minibuses

Two central streets of Bishkek may be freed from minibuses in July 2019. Kuban Dzhusupov, head of the Transport Department of the Bishkek City Administration, told at a press conference.

The government has set the task to gradually free the center of Bishkek (a square bounded by Chui Avenue, Bokonbaev, Ibraimov Streets and Molodaya Gvardiya Boulevard) from minibuses.

«After the purchase of new buses, we will be able to free only two streets from July 1, 2019. We are developing new routes for buses and minibuses. I can’t say exactly what streets it will be,» he said.

Kuban Dzhusupov added that the City Administration was working on the purchase of new buses and trolley buses.

«We are looking for investors, long-term leasing options, negotiating with the EBRD. We will free the city center from minibuses after purchase of new buses,» he said.
