«There are talks now that Almazbek Atambayev would like to form an alliance with Omurbek Babanov. It is unreal. Omurbek Babanov will not do such things,» political analyst Mars Sariev commented on an interview with the former president of the country on April TV channel.
«Almazbek Atambayev’s last speech worsened his rating even more. It was unreasoned performance. As they say, it would be better to keep silence. I think Atambayev understands that Babanov returns to Kyrgyzstan, and he wants to soften this return, because any combination is possible, including in power structures. There is a threat of dissolution of the Cabinet after the New Year. And, perhaps, Babanov is one of the combinations of the current government,» he believes.
Atambayev wants to work on anticipation. Omurbek Babanov’s return to Kyrgyzstan is very uncomfortable for him. Therefore, Atambayev already apologizes to Babanov in advance.

The political scientist called assumptions about a possible alliance between Atambayev and Babanov unrealistic, since Omurbek Babanov would not agree to this.
«Babanov, as far as I know, had negotiations with the current government, and the question of his return was resolved positively, but a certain pause arose. And now, most likely, this issue is finally resolved. I believe that criminal cases will be closed, because the case on incitement of national hatred is practically far-fetched, this is Babanov’s compiled speech, all this is done to discredit him. This is easy to find out. I suspect that this is political persecution,» said Mars Sariev.
According to the political analyst, the authorities will most likely not respond to Atambayev’s statements.
«I think the power will act in other ways. For example, the question of the rehabilitation of Tekebayev and Chotonov is being raised. What does Atambayev hope for? To cause a reaction, a squabble, and the government will ignore his speeches. But in practical terms, Babanov’s hypothetical return and acquittal of Tekebayev and Chotonov create a very difficult situation for Atambayev,» Mars Sariev summed up.
Recall, in an interview with the April television channel, former head of state Almazbek Atambayev said he felt guilty to Omurbek Babanov. He also stated that there were no grounds for criminal cases against the presidential candidate and they should be closed.
