EBRD to launch new irrigation development projects in Kyrgyzstan in 2019

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will launch in Kyrgyzstan new projects on the development of irrigation and provision with clean drinking water in 2019. EBRD Director for Central Asia, Neil McKain, said at a meeting with the president of the country.

Sooronbai Jeenbekov today received EBRD Director for Central Asia Neil McKain. The parties exchanged views on EBRD projects implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic. The head of state thanked EBRD for providing support in the implementation of projects aimed at the country’s social and economic development. In his turn, Neil McKain noted personal support in the implementation of projects and activities of the bank in Kyrgyzstan.

Neil McKain informed about EBRD’s intention to launch in 2019 a number of new projects on the development of irrigation and providing the population in the regions and cities of the Kyrgyz Republic with clean drinking water. More than $ 129 million will be allocated for these infrastructure projects.

«Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed that all joint projects with EBRD were very important for the further development of the country’s economy, creation of jobs in the regions, improvement of the welfare of the population, and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation,» the presidential press service said.
