Status of the state nature reserve Dashman will be changed to a «state natural park.» A draft government decree was submitted by the State Agency for Environment Protection and Forestry to a public hearing.
The background statement says that a conflict arose in the rural areas of Arstanbap, Kyzyl-Unkur and Mogol due to creation of Dashman reserve in 2012. The main requirement of local residents is the abolition of the government decree on creation of the reserve.
The document noted that on October 8, 2018 deputy Mirlan Bakirov proposed to change the status of Dashman state nature reserve to «national natural park» at a meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Regional Development of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
«Amendment of the resolution will resolve the conflict and create conditions for the development of tourism and recreational activities, attracting investment and improving the well-being of the local population,» the statement says.
The state nature reserve Dashman in Bazar-Korgon district of Jalal-Abad region was created on July 12, 2012 in order to preserve the relict walnut-fruit forests of southern Kyrgyzstan.
