All production activities of Eti Bakyr Tereksai Company have been suspended. The Chairman of the Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union, Eldar Tadzhibaev, told reporters.
According to him, to prevent equipment breakdown, the water in the gold extraction plant has been drained and all equipment has been stopped. Production at the field may be mothballed for 3-4 months.
«The current conflict has a negative effect on the company’s activities. About 400 people may remain without work. Contributions to the Social Fund and taxes will be frozen. Each year, the company transferred 15 million soms to the local budget as a social package,» Eldar Tadzhibaev commented on the situation.
According to him, in the near future, it is necessary to resume the production activities of the Kyrgyz-Turkish gold mining enterprise. Government agencies must create all the conditions for this.
«At the same time, mining companies need to conduct work exclusively within the framework of Kyrgyz legislation, without harm to the environment and with relevant awareness-rising work,» Eldar Tadzhibaev summed up.
Recall, special forces officers beat a resident of Terek-Sai village in the territory of the enterprise Eti Bakyr Tereksai on November 5. Villagers were indignant, a conflict broke out. Two policemen were injured. Police later detained 14 people.
