The Guardian has published a series of photographs sent by contestants applying for Portrait of Humanity prize.
Photographers captured different people in their everyday life. These are a female soldier with a gun, a boy trying to ride a wave on a board, a man with a child in his arms.
Works will be judged by leading photographers of the world. Photos are accepted until January 8.
