«Route of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway was generally discussed, but we will be able say what it was approved when the parties sign the documents,» the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov said in an interview with Kommersant newspaper.
According to him, the project is given priority attention. It will connect China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan with Europe and Southeast Asia. This will allow to use a large economic and resource potential of the regions. Russia will participate in the project.
«What we have said about our transport and logistics centers will have a tremendous positive effect. Now there is an active work by the competent authorities of the countries. Work with Russian side is also underway. I hope that in the near future we will get a general understanding of the form of our joint participation in the project. The question of financing the construction of the road is being discussed,» told Chingiz Aidarbekov.
«What I said about the participation of the Russian side is a project to continue Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway. It should connect the railway branch from the southern regions to our northern regions, and from there, through the existing infrastructure, we will have access to Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. This route will be even shorter for Russia. Through it one can get to the Persian Gulf and Southeast Asia. It will play a positive role in strengthening our region as a whole. We are studying it with the Russian side, preparing the route, but it is at the stage of consideration now,» the Foreign Affairs Minister summed up.
