Court hearing on Izzat Artykov doping case to start on January 11

Court proceedings on the case of weightlifter Izzat Artykov will begin in the Swiss city of Lausanne on January 11, 2017. Former head coach of the national weightlifting team of Kyrgyzstan Usenkan Maynazarov informed Azattyk.

According to him, the Kyrgyz side will be presented at the trial by Izzat Artykov and Vice President of Weightlifting Federation Ulan Moldodosov. Management of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports will appear on the witness stand.

Recall, on August 18, Court of Arbitration for Sport stripped Artykov (up to 69 kg) off a bronze medal, won at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. As noted, his doping A and B samples tested positive for a banned substance - strychnine.

Later, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has decided to make concessions and gave Kyrgyzstan the opportunity to prove that Izzat Artykov did not use doping.

According to the sportsman, he has never consumed doping drugs.

In October, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) disqualified Izzat Artykov for violation of anti-doping rules.
