Erlan Abdyldaev: It is time to work out optimal model of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States

"It is time to work out an optimal model of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States," the acting Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev said today at the opening ceremony of a new building of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

He reminded that two countries have established diplomatic relations four months after Kyrgyzstan had gained independence (December 27, 1991). "Since then, step by step we were building and strengthening our relations. Over the years, our cooperation has expanded and now it covers the main areas, including the international agenda. Among them are: strengthening of democratic institutions, carrying out various reforms, the fight against global challenges and security threats, including international terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking. The United States supports the efforts undertaken by Kyrgyzstan to ensure the state sovereignty and territorial integrity, stability and security. In view of common values, we have all the prerequisites for moving forward. Of course, these relations should be consistent with the relations with our other international and regional partners," the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.

"We believe that it is time to develop an optimal model of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States, fully meeting the principles of equality and mutual respect. We appreciate the cooperation with the United States. Our countries are the partners in the development, strengthening and promotion of democratic values and ideals. We believe that having a goodwill and mutual respect, we can set and solve the most complex problems," Erlan Abdyldaev stressed.

The Minister congratulated his American colleagues on the opening of a new building. "I would wish you the work in a modern complex has brought not only new conveniences but also the progress in the development of friendly, mutually beneficial and equal relations between our countries," Erlan Abdyldaev summed up.
