Kyrgyz President doesn’t sign amendments to law on state benefits

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev didn't sign the amendments to the law on state benefits and the Tax Code, adopted by the Parliament on April 14, 2016.

The head of state supported the desire of deputies to improve the social situation of low-income families, having the old-age pensioners. At the same time, he notes that any measures aimed at improving the quality of life should take into account the priorities of the declared state social policy, "the basic principle in the context of limited state budget is targeting, involving the social protection, primarily the most vulnerable people."

"Proposed by the Government and adopted by the Parliament variant of the problem solution doesn't fully meet these requirements, which caused a fair, according to the President, critic by the public. Kyrgyz Government, agreeing to a significant increase in costs in the national budget for the payment of state benefits to families, having in its composition senior citizens, didn't take into account the interests of families which have persons with disabilities, who also has the right to the improvement of social support from the state," the department of information policy of presidential administration notes.

Law was returned to the Parliament because of its inexpediency.
