Temir Sariev: Nothing should threaten tourists in Kyrgyzstan

Deputy of SDPK faction Uzarbek Zhylkybaev expressed concern at a meeting of Parliament that the Kyrgyz government has not developed a new version of the Law on tourism and the concept of development of the tourism industry for the next 10 years. The MP voiced his opinion within  the government day on "The Kyrgyz government policy on attracting and protection of investments, development of entrepreneurship, production and promotion of products on the foreign market."

Responding to the comment on the lack of a new law on tourism, the Prime Minister Temir Sariev said that the government is taking all necessary measures to attract tourists.

"Elections to local councils have been held, there is the stability in the country that you have to preserve. I urge the parliamentary body also to contribute to this. Now we have a great opportunity to attract tourists from Russia, as about ten million Russians will not go to Turkey for vacation now. External factors, as you know, play an important role in the attracting pilgrims. We are working in different directions now. We want to attract more tourists from Kazakhstan, India and China. We can develop mountaineering, hiking, horseback riding, ecotourism. But again, it requires political stability and security for travelers. MIA is working hard at the local level," the Prime Minister said.

He added that the barracks will be built on the Issyk-Kul this year, which will house a battalion. "We also are concerned about cleanness. The government is going to make every tourist feel comfortable in Kyrgyzstan. Before the 2nd World Nomad Games we plan to finish work on the lighting of area, to build additional sports facilities according to the Olympic standards. We need to build a lot of sports facilities. I would like to make an appeal to the citizens of Kyrgyzstan to be friendly to the pilgrims. If we do that and show hospitality, the tourists will then come to our country. In the last convocation MP Daniyar Terbishaliev made a statement about the tourist season than frightened tourists. But now he is not the Member of Parliament, probably, he just could not win votes," Temir Sariev said.
