Kyrgyz parliament requires government to revise list of life-saving drug

Kyrgyz Parliament requires the government to revise the list of life-saving drugs. Such an appeal to the Cabinet was voiced by the deputy from SDPK Alfiya Samigullina at today's session.

She wondered why the tender purchases are conducted on the principle of acquiring cheap drugs. "Under the law, the purpose of public procurement is savings and efficient use of budgetary funds, and they are based on the principle of publicity, impartiality, as well as creating equal conditions for suppliers. Nobody says that you have to buy the cheapest drugs, the selection criterion should be the quality of the drug, not the price," Alfiya Samigullina said.

She noted that "a drug, which costs 13-15 soms, can't be of high quality." "Quality of generic substance depends on its degree of purification, and it makes up 50 percent of production cost. Because of this, manufacturers are trying to buy cheap substance," she explained and asked the government to review the procurement process of drugs and medical institutions' list of life-saving drugs.
