Two power companies from Czech Republic intend to invest in construction of small hydropower stations in Kyrgyzstan

Two energy companies from the Czech Republic intend to invest in the construction of small hydropower stations in Kyrgyzstan, Speaker of the Parliament Asylbek Jeenbekov said in response to questions from journalists on the results of the official visit of the delegation of the Czech Republic's Parliament to Kyrgyzstan.

He reminded that Kyrgyzstan and the Czech Republic have long-standing ties of friendship from the time when, in the twenties of the last century, five echelons with Czech citizens arrived in Kyrgyzstan and founded the cooperative "Intergelpo." "Fundamentals of Modern Industry of Kyrgyzstan were established at that time by the representatives of Intergelpo. We will always honor it," Asylbek Jeenbekov said.

According to him, business leaders of Czech Republic, who took part in today's business forum, arrived in Kyrgyzstan along with Czech parliamentarians. "There were established contacts with our entrepreneurs, and this gives us a lot of opportunities, because we need partners, through whom and with whom we can trade in the European Union," Asylbek Jeenbekov said.

He added that there is already a preliminary agreement with the two power companies of the Czech Republic on investment of $190 million in the construction of small hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan. "There will be investment in other sectors. Everyone knows that the Czech Republic is considered one of the most developed in Central and Eastern Europe: it has developed industry in all directions, very stable budget. We must use all the possibilities of cooperation with the EU countries," the Speaker of the Parliament summed up.

In conclusion, Asylbek Jeenbekov said that the Kyrgyz Parliament intends to closely work with the Parliament of the Czech Republic within the framework of parliamentary delegations and training of staff.
