Electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan decreases twice

Consumption of electricity in Kyrgyzstan has decreased twice. The leader of Onuguu-Progress parliamentary faction Bakyt Torobaev announced today at a meeting of the Parliament, citing as evidence the following figures: a year ago there was consumed 66 million kilowatt-hours in a month, now, for the same period, the country consumes only 34 million.

"This shows that enterprises stopped operating in the country, while the citizens are suffering from the flow of contraband that comes from all the neighboring countries, and representatives of the regulatory authorities - border guards, tax inspectors and representatives of the financial police are growing rich. These are not my words, so say the people at places," Bakyt Torobaev said. In this regard, as the MP stressed, there is criticism against the President.

"But we also have the government, why don't we take up collective responsibility and begin to work together with representatives of local self-government in the regions - akims, governors and rural districts' administrations?" the MP turned to the heads of the State Service for Economic Crimes Control and the State Tax Service at the meeting. Thus, he urged them to "declare war on smugglers."
