Beer Brewers Association opposes introduction of compulsory product stamping

Beer Brewers Association opposed introduction of compulsory stamping of the product. The chairman of the association and vice president of Abdysh- Ata Company Marlis Alseyitov said today at a meeting of the Committee of Parliament on Economic and Fiscal Policy.

According to him, the introduction of excise stamps for beer is impractical. Automated bottling lines with the capacity of 12,000 bottles per hour are brought from Europe. It does not contain equipment for sticking excise stamps, because Europe and China do not stamp beer. Besides, beer is poured into bottles cooled. It is hard to stick an excise stamp on a wet bottle. In fact, manufacturers have to introduce manual marking.

"If we introduce it, the line capacity will decrease by 50 percent. To stick excise stamps by hand, it is necessary to expand the facilities, reconstruct production. All this will lead to an increase in the cost of production," Marlis Alseyitov said.

MPs agreed with the opinion of entrepreneurs. The issue of introduction of excise stamps for beer was postponed. MPs are planning to visit the breweries to get acquainted with the production.
