Deputies decided to discuss issue of additional shares in Centerra Gold Inc. behind closed doors

The Kyrgyz government has asked deputies to discuss issue of additional shares in Centerra Gold Inc. behind closed doors. Deputy Economy Minister of the KR Turatbek Dzhunushaliyev addressed such a request to the members of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Subsoil Use Committee of the Parliament.

Head of the Committee Kozhobek Ryspaev (SDPK) has asked officials to explain the need to address this issue without the participation of the media. In response, the deputy minister said that at present the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is in talks with Centerra Gold Inc., and also it changes its representatives in the Board of Directors. "In addition, the proceedings are ongoing, and we don't want some information to adversely affect the course of these processes," Turatbek Dzhunushaliyev concluded.

As a result, the committee decided to hear information of the Kyrgyz government on the execution of the decision of the Parliament dated June 29, 2015, associated with the activity of Kumtor project, as well as the legality of the additional issue by the leadership of Centerra Gold Inc. of 4.6 million shares behind closed doors.
