Pictures on cigarette packs in EEU to be even more loathsome

Pictures on cigarette packs in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will become even more loathsome from March 17. The Eurasian Economic Commission reported.

It is noted that the manufacturers, importers or sellers have less than three months to place them on the packs in accordance with the requirements of EEU technical regulations.

Technical regulations of the Union provide for applying to each consumer package of tobacco products an insert sheet with warning about the dangers of tobacco. Sketches of warnings and application parameters have been approved on March 17, 2016.

Human organs affected by dangerous illnesses caused by smoking and the names of diseases - from paradontosis to gangrene and cancer- will be depicted on the packs. At the same time, there will be used one of the most unpleasant, according to scientists, color- dirty brown. Warning area should be at least a half of each of the main sides of the package.

It is forbidden to put on cigarette packs pictures or inscriptions which could remind of something tasty and healthy: berries, fruits and something like that. For the same reason, one can not write the amount of nicotine, tars, carbon monoxide: consumers should not think that the smaller the content of harmful substances, the safer is the product.

Manufacturing and production of tobacco products in the old packaging is permitted if there are documents regarding the compliance assessment with the mandatory requirements, issued or approved prior to tobacco 'technical regulations' entry into force.

Developers of new "horror pictures" are convinced that the innovation will reduce the number of smokers and will help to keep up health of millions of people.
