Tuigunaaly Abdraimov: Elections to local government administrations are considered to be more complex than election of president or MPs

"Elections to the local government administrations are always considered to be more complex than the election of the president or members of Parliament," the head of CEC Tuigunaaly Abdraimov said today at a briefing.

Commenting on the course of elections, which take place in six towns and cities across the country and 20 rural districts, he said that the CEC has produced for today's election 56 different ballot papers with different names. "In some multi-member electoral districts ballot paper length is 80 centimeters! In particular, at least 91 candidates run for 11 seats in the local council of Milyanfan precinct of Issyk-Ata district. At least 113 candidates are nominated to 21 posts in Chaek," Tuigunaaly Abdraimov informed.

Therewith, as the head of CEC noted, under the new legislation, at least three parties should be represented in city and town councils, so the first three of those who won the highest number of votes will get the mandates, even if they did not overcome 7 percent threshold.

According to CEC, 13 parties are running for seats in Osh, as well as in Karakol. A little more - 14 parties - take part in the elections in Balykchy town. As for Tokmak and Kemin, 11 and 10 parties take part in the election there. Least of all parties - only 5 political organizations - take part in the elections to Mailu-Suu town council.
