Belarus still not signed EEU Customs Code

The head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko still has not signed the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, approved in late December 2016 by the Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. Chairman of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Sulaymanov announced today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on economic and fiscal policy.

According to him, it was initially planned that the single Customs Code of the union countries would come into force from July 1, 2017. However, the date is in question now. The document has not yet come to Kyrgyzstan for ratification.

"Belarus still has not signed the Customs Code. Therefore, we still do not know when the ratification will take place. Now we are making amendments to the current Kyrgyz law on customs regulation according to EEU standards. The procedure of duty free shops work on the territory of Kyrgyzstan is stipulated there," Azamat Sulaymanov said.
