OSCE renews mandates of missions in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) renewed mandates of its missions in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Information was posted on the official website of the organization.

Earlier it was reported that the mandates of OSCE offices in Bishkek, Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and monitoring mission in Ukraine were not renewed in 2017.

According to some sources, OSCE offices in Armenia and Azerbaijan also had problems.

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan informed of the intention from January 1, 2017 to transform the OSCE Centre in Bishkek into the Program Office. This happened after the speech of one of the former leaders of Uzbek community Kadyrzhan Batyrov in Warsaw at the annual meeting of the OSCE / ODIHR.
