Maksat Kunakunov sentenced to 10 years in prison

Pervomay district court of Bishkek sentenced Maksat Kunakunov to 10 years in prison. Relatives of the defendants informed 24.kg news agency.

Recall, closed trial of the mayor's nephew, accused of aiding terrorists, and nine other defendants took place the day before. Previously, the sentencing has been repeatedly postponed by a judge for unknown reasons.

Maksat Kunakunov is charged with four articles of the Criminal Code - "Aiding terrorists", "Illegal possession of weapons", "Coup d'etat" and "Robbery with violence", but the defendant does not admit guilt on any of the charges. State prosecution asked for him 30 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Maksat Kunakunov was, reportedly, acquitted of aiding terrorists and coup attempt, but was found guilty under articles "Illegal possession of a weapons" and "Robbery with violence."
