Dissatisfied by amendments on withdrawal of land for public use to hold another rally

Dissatisfied by the amendments on withdrawal of land for public use will hold another rally. Members of the initiative group told 24.kg news agency.

The protest is scheduled for September 21 in front of "White House." Bishkek residents are outraged that, despite dissatisfaction of citizens, the government insists on the amendments to the Land, Housing, Civic and Forest Codes.

Members of the initiative group wrote a letter on September 1 to the Prime Minister with the requirement to review the amendments. The officials have promised to look into the situation within two weeks. However, nothing has changed so far.

The Ministry of Justice has initiated changes in order to lift the ban on the withdrawal of land plots for the maintenance of residential houses and subsidiary farming. At present, the Land Code states that private garden space is not subject to withdrawal for state, municipal and public needs. That is, received by the citizens free plots (gardens, vegetable gardens, land plots) may lose the protection of the law, and the state will be able to withdraw them or to buy out, if required by public needs.
