Renewed Aska-Tash stele welcomes Bishkek guests (photo)

Aska-Tash stele, located on Fuchik Avenue, was renovated.

As the press service of the Bishkek Mayor's Office informed 24.kg news agency, sponsors have paid for the repair work. "These guys are ready to render further assistance to us. We want to ask them to improve lighting of the complex and the fountains," the Mayor's Office said.

Stele was built in the early 1980s and is an architectural monument of local importance. Repairs began before the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State and the World Nomad Games. Draft project was developed by Bishkekglavarhitektura.

Earlier, the Mayor's Office noted that the stele had non-residential premises inside, which were used as a cafe. Since 1990, as a result of a number of civil-law transactions, an individual person became an owner of the cafe. The owner has been repeatedly notified of the need to carry out overhaul of the object. However, he refused all the notices. Mayor's Office intends to return the facility into the ownership of the city. The process of return has already begun.
