Clothing for children and adolescents in EEU to become safer

Clothing for children and adolescents in the Eurasian Economic Union will become safer. Corresponding amendments to the technical regulations of the union were approved yesterday by the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

It is noted that more tough requirements for the quality of fabrics used for making children’s clothes were set. In particular, the division of clothing for children and adolescents into the second and third layers were specified.

Costumes, including school uniform, were assigned to the second layer if the lining is missing or occupies less than 40 percent of the top of the product, and to the third layer- if it takes less than 40 percent.

«This refinement is significant considering more stringent safety requirements for second-layer clothing compared to the clothes of the third one. For example, for the age group of children from 7 to 14 years, increased hygroscopicity of second-layer clothing was established," the commission explained.

It is noted that manufacturers will be able to use one type of clothing for several age groups. In addition, it will be possible to use modern artificial materials for various types of children’s shoes.

Approved by the EEC collegium changes to the technical regulations were considered at the regular meeting of the board of the commission.
