No madrasah gets license for educational activities in Kyrgyzstan

No madrasah in Kyrgyzstan got a license for educational activities. The head of the Ministry of Education Gulmira Kudaiberdieva said at a meeting of SDPK parliamentary faction.

Deputy Irina Karamushkina asked whether the ministry supervises madrasahs, whether general education programs are taught there.

According to Gulmira Kudaiberdieva, all madrasahs are under the control of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.

«A single curriculum is fixed by the Council of Ulemas of SDMK. A number of secular subjects have been introduced in a number of madrasahs, in particular, it is history, informatics, and the Kyrgyz language. But not a single madrasah has received a license for educational activity," she said.

Irina Karamushkina proposed to include this issue in the decision of the faction: «You can not lay everything on SDMK, we have to include madrasahs in the education system.»

«This is a very subtle issue," deputy Asylbek Zheenbekov said.

«This is the education of children, and children are protected by the state," Irina Karamushkina summed up.
