MPs demand not to arrest well-known people selectively

MP Maksat Sabirov asked the law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan not to arrest well-known people selectively, and treat everyone equally. He stated this today at a meeting of Parliament.

According to him, the day before, the deputies considered the issue that a Kyrgyz citizen was arrested at the request of a businessman from another country. At the same time, the ex-head of the State Registration Service Taiyrbek Sarpashev is at large, although a criminal case for the withdrawal of the arrest of the property of the associates of former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev was opened against him.

«A government commission was created, you can not take a decision for four months. Omurbek Tekebayev was jailed for a bribe of $ 1 million. A judge of the military court was detained yesterday for a bribe of $50,000. He is under house arrest. And the property on Skryabin Street, 45 and 45a is estimated at more than $ 3 million. Why there is such a selective attitude? We must give the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Security Committee instructions on the case of Taiyrbek Sarpashev. The last time he got off with a reprimand. He broke three laws. You create a commission and leave the matter to it. It is necessary that everybody should be treated equally, not selectively," Maksat Sabirov said.

Omurbek Tekebayev is accused of corruption and fraud. The court took him into custody for two months.
