Felix Kulov advises not to intervene in Tekebayev’s case

Today Bishkek hosted a political forum. Its members didn’t want to discuss the issue of detention of the Ata Meken leader. One of the organizers of the forum — Felix Kulov advised not to intervene in the case of Omurbek Tekebayev.

The participants discussed the draft electoral law, which the former officials and deputies developed. Ministry of Justice earlier rejected the document, and the initiators intend to collect 10,000 signatures to submit the draft to the Parliament.

The former ombudsman Tursunbek Akun asked the forum participants to consider the case of Omurbek Tekebayev, who was detained for 48 hours on February 26 (today the court will decide on sanctions against him).

«Yesterday, protests were held all day long. We can’t ignore this incident. We shall adopt a resolution, and not to talk now about the presidential election. The situation is critical," Tursunbek Akun said.

However, the organizers of the forum, Felix Kulov and Arslanbek Maliyev noted that while there is an investigation, there is no need to interfere in its course, and added: no one of the activists of the political forum will organize rallies on this occasion.

Note, today supporters of Omurbek Tekebayev gather at 1.00 p.m. at the White House to continue the protest.
