More and more children killed on roads in Kyrgyzstan

The number of children, who had been killed in road accidents, has increased by 33 percent for 2016 in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

It is noted that during the year, 128 children died under the wheels of cars, in 2015 — 96.

Totally in 2016, there have been registered 5,868 traffic accidents in the republic, which is 16.9 percent less compared to 2015. The number of fatalities also reduced by 11 percent, the victims — by 14.5 percent.

However, the number of accidents involving children grew by 10 percent in 2016. As a result, 1,754 children were injured, 128 have died.

Growing children mortality on the roads is of serious concern. Currently, necessary measures to ensure road safety are carried out, but the work needs to be strengthened, the Interior Ministry said.
