Sown areas to make up 1,203 million hectares in Kyrgyzstan in 2017

In 2017, sown areas in Kyrgyzstan will make up 1,203,600 hectares that is 9,100 hectares more than in 2016. First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev told at a meeting of the committee on agricultural policy, water resources, environment and regional development.

According to him, there were not sawn 28, 700 hectares of winter crops in 2016.

As Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev noted in his speech, several banks will give farmers soft loans to support them within «Financing of Agriculture 5» project.

«In the course of the year, there will be funding with a total amount of 700 million soms from which the export-oriented farmers will get loans at 6 percent per annum for 36 months. The breeders will get loans at 10 percent for 18 months, for field work — at 10 percent for a period of 24 months," the speaker said.

According to him, the payment of concessional loans will start 6 months from the date of receipt.

As the First Vice Prime Minister stressed, the government intends to carry out a detailed analysis of the loans issued since 2011 for the development of agriculture, and their effectiveness.

«People often said that the loans taken for animal husbandry development had been used for trade. It is necessary to clarify it," Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev said.
