Sadyr Japarov meets with management of ROTOBO Business Association

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a business meeting with the management of ROTOBO Japanese Association in Tokyo. The press service of the head of state reported.

Japan Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States (ROTOBO) was founded in 1967 and promotes the development of business cooperation with the CIS countries, near and far abroad. Partner countries are Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Mongolia.

President of the Association Masami Iijima noted that it was a great honor for them to meet with the President of Kyrgyzstan. He noted with satisfaction that the government of Japan is increasing its interest in Central Asia.

This is demonstrated by the planned high-level events in 2024 in Japan + Central Asia format.

Masami Iijima informed that a business mission of 20 people would be sent to Kyrgyzstan at the end of November 2023 to represent leading Japanese companies and large enterprises. The visit includes a number of activities, as well as a visit to the Bishkek Free Economic Zone, meetings with representatives of government agencies of Kyrgyzstan.

He voiced the intention to use the visit of the business mission as an opportunity to step by step develop consistent relations with Kyrgyzstan, identifying the most potential areas for increasing the scale and business between the two countries.

The Japanese side is interested in the development of economic exchange between Kyrgyzstan and is ready to intensify business dialogue in such areas as tourism, agriculture, energy, industry.

Sadyr Japarov noted with satisfaction the desire and willingness of the Japanese side to familiarize themselves with the investment and economic opportunities offered by Kyrgyzstan. The President emphasized that Japan is one of the important partners. He noted the positive growth dynamics in bilateral trade in 2023.

Regarding cooperation with Japanese partners, Sadyr Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan stands for a greater presence of Japanese businesses and leading corporations in the country in such areas as green economy, tourism, renewable energy, agriculture, light and manufacturing industries, services, digitalization, and mining.

The President paid special attention to the opportunities and potential for cooperation with the Kyrgyz side in the construction of hydroelectric power plants, development of renewable energy sources, as well as joint scientific research in these areas.
