Kloop Media shutdown: Culture Ministry decides to block website in Kyrgyz

The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan sent a letter to the Ministry of Digital Development instructing it to block access to the Kloop website in the Kyrgyz language under the domain address ky.kloop.asia.

According to Kloop editorial board, the Ministry of Culture’s letter of November 1 to the Ministry of Digital Development states that it received a letter from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) on October 30.

«Kloop.kg website was blocked because of the material «Politician Ravshan Dzheenbekov stated that he was tortured in the pretrial detention center 1». According to the Law on Protection from Inaccurate (False) Information, the owner of a website or website page has no right to create a new website or website page on the Internet during the period of suspension of work of the website or website page. On the basis of the above, the ministry requests the suspension of work of the website ky.kloop.asia because of the material «UKMKnyn korskotmosү. Sayasatchy Ravshan Dzheenbekov abakta kyinoogo kabylganyn kabarlady,» the letter of the Ministry of Culture says.

Based on this letter, the Ministry of Culture probably blocked the Kloop website in the Kyrgyz language. Earlier, readers complained about problems with access to it. The press service of the Ministry of Culture asked to make an official inquiry about the blocking.

Recall, the website of Kloop in Russian has been blocked since September 12. The reason was the material with the headline «Politician Ravshan Dzheenbekov said that he was tortured in the pretrial detention center 1. The SCNS complained to the Ministry of Culture about it. The security services believe that the material «does not correspond to reality and defames the reputation of the SCNS».
