Plant for production of electric car chargers planned to be built in Kyrgyzstan

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, as part of his working trip to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China, met with Deputy Chairman of BYD Co Ltd electric car manufacturing company Ivan Cao.

The parties discussed cooperation in the production, manufacture, and sale of electric cars, charging stations, and charging systems.

Akylbek Japarov noted that the Cabinet of Ministers is ready to adopt a state incentive program for the introduction and further operation of electric cars and create favorable conditions for the installation of charging stations throughout the country.

Ivan Cao said that the company plans to open a service center in Bishkek in the fourth quarter of 2023, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation.

Akylbek Japarov also met with the Chairman of the Board of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd. Zhu Huarong.

The parties decided to start cooperation by establishing direct contacts with representatives of government agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The head of the Cabinet instructed the Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev to start the negotiation process with representatives of the company, as well as to organize a mutual visit to Kyrgyzstan.

He noted that within the framework of the country’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality, the construction and launch of the plant for the production of chargers and electric vehicles will create conditions for an accelerated transition from cars with internal combustion engines to ecological electric vehicles.

The automobile company confirmed its readiness to cooperate and noted that experience in this area will make it possible to turn Bishkek into a green city.
