Work on construction of HPPs on Sary-Jaz River resumed

As part of a working trip to Issyk-Kul region, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan got acquainted with the construction site of hydroelectric power plants (HPP) on Sary-Jaz river. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Akylbek Japarov was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen, as well as heads of relevant state bodies.

The plan for the construction of six HPPs with a capacity of 1,100 megawatts on Sary-Jaz river was developed back in 1982-1987. But it was never implemented. Ways of attracting investments for the implementation of the project are currently being discussed.

As part of the working trip of the head of the Cabinet to China in August this year, in addition to other issues, negotiations will also be held with Chinese investors on the construction of hydroelectric power plants on Sary-Jaz river.
