All SCO countries except India support China's One Belt, One Road initiative

India refused to endorse China’s One Belt, One Road initiative. It became known following a meeting of the Council of Heads of State — members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan support the Chinese investment and trade initiative One Belt, One Road. The joint New Delhi Declaration signed on Tuesday says.

«The Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, reaffirming their support for the China Belt and Road Initiative, note the ongoing work to jointly implement this project, including efforts to link the construction of the Eurasian Economic Union and One Belt, One Road,» the declaration says.

The One Belt, One Road initiative was launched in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Its goals are China’s entry into the markets of Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and other regions, as well as the activation of international trade and investment projects with participation of a large number of countries and use of capital of interested states.

More than 150 countries and international organizations have joined the initiative.

The lack of a demarcated border between China and India in the Himalayas (the two states share a line of actual control) has been a source of tension for decades. In 1959, New Delhi announced rejection by the Chinese side of part of Arunachal Pradesh state, an armed conflict broke out in 1962, as a result of which about 38,000 square kilometers in Ladakh and Aksai Chin regions came under the control of the PRC.
