Members of extremist organization detained in Suzak district

Activity of a clandestine cell of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami extremist organization was suppressed. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

A criminal case has been initiated under the article «Production, distribution of extremist materials» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

«At least 11 members of the religious extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami were detained in Kurgak-Kol village of Suzak district. Extremist literature, leaflets, mobile phones, electronic data storage devices and reports on the cell’s financial activities were confiscated. The detainees systematically held religious classes to promote extremist ideology, and also distributed extremist materials through social media. The detainees were placed in the pre-trial detention center,» the SCNS said.
