Russia closed the airspace for 36 European countries, including Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy and France. The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency reported.

It is specified that flights from them can now be operated only with a special permission from the Federal Air Transport Agency or the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The list includes Albania, Anguilla, Austria, the UK, British Virgin Islands, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.

Earlier, 18 states of the European Union announced closure of airspace for Russian airlines: such measures were previously announced by Finland, Sweden, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, the UK, Bulgaria. In its turn, the Russian Federation has closed its airspace for airlines of Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as for the aircraft owned by or leased from the UK.

Germany, Austria, Ireland, Iceland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium are also among the countries that have closed their airspace.

Today is the sixth day of fighting in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced start of a special military operation. It was regarded in Ukraine and in the West as a full-scale invasion. Severe economic sanctions began to be imposed on Russia on February 25.

The number of casualties, both among military personnel of both countries and civilians, is increasing. The number of Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Europe is growing. Protests against Russia’s actions are taking place in many countries around the world.
