Former president of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev is under interrogation at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS). An associate of the former head of state Bekbolot Talgarbekov told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, Askar Akayev was summoned for questioning as a witness within a criminal case on Kumtor. He came with a lawyer at 9 a.m.
Askar Akayev arrived in Bishkek the day before. He already came to Kyrgyzstan in August. After interrogation at the SCNS, the former president entered into a plea bargain and made a confession. Within few days of his visit, Askar Akayev managed to visit his birthplace in Kemin district and his mother-in-law in Talas.
