Number of population with disabilities growing due to lack of water

Number of population with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan is growing due to problems with access to water, deputy Almazbek Toktorov said at a meeting of Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction.

The meeting considered a draft law on ratification of the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the International Development Association. The agreement states that the KR will receive $23.5 million for the development of rural water supply and sanitation of three villages.

The MPs supported the project, but expressed dissatisfaction with the government's work in terms of providing the population with water. They remembered the scandalous project Taza Suu, which is implemented in several stages in the country. However, as a result, many villages involved in the project still have no water.

"We must solve the problem of access to clean water. The Ministry of Health keeps honest, that the lack of water leads to various diseases," the deputy Almazbek Toktorov said.
