About 3,500 cancer patients annually die in Kyrgyzstan

"At least 23,500 cancer patients are registered in the republic. About 3,500 of them die annually," acting director of the National Center of Oncology Baktygul Sultangazieva told today at a press conference.

According to her, these 3,500 require palliative care - a worthy end of their life. Their family members also demand it. "The concept of palliative care in the Kyrgyz Republic was practically absent. Amending some legislative acts on health issues, we begin to promote it. Palliative care is directed to the most severely ill patients, whose life is not long. We should alleviate it for them," chairman of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund Marat Kaliev added.
