Tuberculosis incidence among children in Kyrgyzstan on rise

In 2015, tuberculosis incidence among children has grown. Press service of the Health Care Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported today.

According to it, the incidence rate among children made up 29.3 per 100,000 kids compared to 24.1 in 2014. Growth in the rate is caused by the improved disease detection, which is connected with the delivery of tuberculin to Kyrgyzstan in 2015, and its lack in 2014. The incidence of this disease among adolescents in the republic in 2015 amounted to 81.2 per 100,000 people, in 2014 - 87.4. In absolute figures, in 2015 there were detected 252 adolescent patients, in 2014 - 271.

"Overall, in 2015 there is a decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis. There were registered 5, 640 new cases of the disease, which is 96.6 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 5,763 in 2014. Jointly with the State Penitentiary Service there have been revealed 5,812 new patients. As before, the highest TB incidence rate is in Chui region and Bishkek. The epidemiological situation is affected by the external migration of the population, in particular the Kyrgyz citizens who become ill in Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries and came home for treatment. In general, at least 1, 625 people, who arrived from overseas, got TB in the last three years," the Ministry said.

TB mortality rate in recent years is also gradually decreasing.
