Introduction of smart meters to take 26 years in Kyrgyzstan

At this rate, introduction of the automated electricity metering control system in Kyrgyzstan will take 26 years. Deputy Ekmat Baybakpaev made such a conclusion at the meeting of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex and Subsoil Use.

He said that smart meters are installed very slowly.

"We will install them 20-26 years. Only 3,000 meters such meters were installed in Osh," the deputy said.

In his opinion, it is sabotage.

Ekmat Baybakpaev added that Severelectro JSC spent on the equipment more than $ 6 million.

However, this equipment is in warehouse and is not used.
