Kyrgyzstan to have breakthrough in relations with Uzbekistan

Kyrgyzstan is pleased with the results of the working visit of the President Almazbek Atambayev to Uzbekistan, the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Sapar Isakov said to journalists.

"The visit to Samarkand was at the highest level. We are very pleased with the results. All the questions that are on the agenda of our today's bilateral relations have been discussed during the talks," he said.

Answering the question which projects were discussed during the meetings of heads of two states, Sapar Isakov said: "I don't want to jump ahead, but I would like to emphasize that we have a positive attitude. I don't want to voice the details, which we have agreed, in order to give us the opportunity to practice them and to hold a briefing on the results of our agreements. It will take place just in a couple of months."

"Regional projects were also discussed. Our Chinese colleagues emphasized projects of the Great Silk Road. For example, there is a project on construction of a three-way railway. Our Uzbek friends supported the Kyrgyz Republic's position on the construction of the railway. This is what is being discussed in a trilateral format," Sapar Isakov added.

"It was the first visit of a foreign head to Uzbekistan after Shavkat Mirziyoyev became head of state. And it is doubly gratifying. I would like to note that the Uzbek side has gone beyond all ceremonial events. Shavkat Miramonovich personally saw off our President at the airport. It means a lot," Sapar Isakov said.
