Kazakhstan begins returning electricity to Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan began returning electricity to Kyrgyzstan since September 15. The National Energy Holding reported.

It is noted that as of today, there have been received 6.6 million kilowatt-hours. Until the end of September it is planned to receive 56.2 million kilowatt-hours, in October - 118.2 million kilowatt hours, in November - 23.1 million kilowatt-hours.

 The relevant favorable volume of water in Toktogul reservoir for the autumn-winter period of 2016-2017 will be preserved and the water and energy balance will be retained.

In August, Kazakhstan has received from Kyrgyzstan 197.5 million kilowatt-hours within the electricity exchange agreement. The same volume will be returned. The agreement was reached in order to accumulate water in Toktogul reservoir. Its current volume is 17.3 billion cubic meters.
