Acting President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev nominated for presidency

Acting President of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev was nominated as a candidate for President. CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan posted on Facebook today.

"Shavkat Mirziyoyev was nominated for the post of the President at a meeting of the Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party," message says.

The first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov died of a stroke on September 2 at the age of 78. The Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev was appointed the acting head of the state, chairman of the Senate Nigmatilla Yuldashev, who was to take this post under the Constitution, refused to accept the nomination.

As chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov told, the presidential elections will be held on December 4. Nomination of candidates will begin on September 30 and will end on October 20.

 By the way, only six presidents take part in today's jubilee summit of CIS in Bishkek, while Uzbekistan is represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
