Negotiations with Uzbekistan on return of Kyrgyzstanis suspended

Negotiations with Uzbekistan on the return of citizens of Kyrgyzstan were suspended. The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, it is connected with three-day mourning in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the death of President Islam Karimov. The SBS noted that the dialogue would be resumed after the end of all memorial events.

KR representatives demand to release our citizens Abdumitalip Urmanov, Urmat Berdaliev, Jenish Tashmatov and Nurbek Usupbaev immediately.

Recall, on August 22 several employees of the Interior Ministry of Uzbekistan landed from MI-8 helicopter on the disputed part of the border (next to the repeater station on Ungar-Too mountain). After that Kyrgyzstan directed to the area additional police forces and border guards.

On the morning of August 24 Border Service reported that four employees of the radio relay station were taken to Yangikurgan police station of Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyz radio relay station "Kerben" is situated on Ungar-Too. A few years ago the Uzbek border guards attempted to establish a checkpoint there. After the talks, they left the disputed area.
