Convicted terrorists escape from Tajik penal colony, located 65 km from border with Kyrgyzstan

The convicted of terrorist activity escaped from a penal colony in Tajikistan, situated near the border with Kyrgyzstan. Russian mass media reported.

According to it, a group of the convicted terrorists escaped from a maximum security penal colony №3. There is no information on the number of the escaped. According to various sources, there are from 5 to 25 of them.

 It is noted that, checkpoints were installed on the outskirts of the city of Khujand. The armed with rifles soldiers in flak jackets inspect the vehicles and check the documents of passengers. There are traffic jams on the roads. In addition, police patrols check the traffic in the city. According to unconfirmed information, exits from the country were closed (Khujand is located 25 kilometers from the border with Uzbekistan, and 65 kilometers from the border with Kyrgyzstan).

Presumably, the escaped prisoners are the supporters of banned religious movements. Sughd region is in the north of Tajikistan. According to statistics, the greatest number of citizens of Tajikistan leaves the country from there to take part in the fighting on the side of ISIL.

 Recall, the day before GKNB officers detained members of an international terrorist organization in Batken region who, according to some reports, were preparing for terrorist attacks in Kyrgyzstan.
