Special services of CIS countries to discuss security in Central Asia

Meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS countries will take place in Minsk on May 19. The press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.

 As noted, the meeting will be attended by Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee. Its participants will discuss the results of the committee meetings on scientific and technical cooperation, information security, cooperation in the field of pre-trial investigation and the safety of international transport. The main topics will be the security in Central Asia and the fight against terrorism.

"The participants of the meeting will discuss the influence of the geopolitical situation in the world on security in Central Asia, the implementation of the program of cooperation of CIS countries in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2014-2016 years as well as the meeting of heads (chiefs of staff) of the national anti-terrorist centers of the CIS countries," the press service reported.

 In addition, the participants will sum up the results of work of the CIS anti-terrorist center in 2015 and will discuss the meeting of the Coordinating Council and Technical Committee of the Joint Data Bank of the security agencies and special services of the CIS countries in the fight against organized crime.

The Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS was created by the decision of the CIS Heads of State Council dated March 28, 1997 for cooperation and coordination in the fight against international organized crime. The main form of activity of the council is the meetings which are held at least twice a year.
