Kazakhstan bans transit of Kyrgyz meat, milk through its territory by road

Kazakhstan has banned the transit of Kyrgyz meat and dairy products through its territory by road since January 1, 2017. The State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection of the Kyrgyz Republic received such a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.++

The ban concerns production of 15 companies, which have been included in the Russian register as far back as in February 2016. These companies have the right to sell its production in Russia, but are not included in the register of Kazakhstan. They were allowed to carry its goods by rail only.

The Government of Kyrgyzstan has sent a letter to the authorities of Kazakhstan with a request to explain the situation. In particular, Kazakhstan will have to explain why the Ministry of Agriculture determines the policy in the field of transport. 

There are no other documents, confirming the ban on road transit except for the letter of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

The Cabinet of Kyrgyzstan also turned the Eurasian Economic Commission. It will consider the issue on January 13, 2017.
